Find of the Month – Roberval Monastery’s Annals
Every month, an object from the heritage bequest by the Augustinian community is selected by the museum storage facility and archives center teams. Featured this month: an excerpt from the Hôtel-Dieu de Roberval monastery’s annals.
Every year, the Augustinian sisters recorded the events taking place in their respective monasteries. Recently, the annals of the Hôtel-Dieu de Roberval monastery were scanned. Here is an excerpt in which there is mention of an earthquake that occurred on February 27, 1925.
“Tonight, at 9:15 p.m., there was a general commotion. Those asleep were startled awake by a violent earthquake. Many thought it was the end of the world. Even in Chicoutimi, where it must have been stronger than here, a lady died of fear.
In this photo, we see the founders of the Hôtel-Dieu de Roberval.
