The Chicoutimi Augustinian Sisters were no exception to this rule. Industrial society after the 1960s brought its share of questions, challenges and transformations, particularly with regard to religious institutions and the modernization of health care. The Augustinian Sisters of Chicoutimi have been able to adapt, especially by forging ahead and continuing their work outside the community. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n<div class=\"item wysiwyg component-image\" ><div class=\"container\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/monastere.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/old\/2018\/01\/HG-A-26.12.4.3.32.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3561\"\/><figcaption>Group of nuns in a study room of the monastery or the H\u00f4tel-Dieu Saint-Vallier de Chicoutimi. It was later forced to close its doors in June 1969 due to the\ndevelopment of CEGEPs and various university faculties of nursing. This did not\nprevent most Augustinians from continuing their education in these educational\ninstitutions.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"item wysiwyg component-image\" ><div class=\"container\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/monastere.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/old\/2018\/01\/HG-A-26.12.4.6.45-Infirmi\u00e8res-Chicoutimi-Saint-Vallier-1024x832.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3522\"\/><figcaption> <em>A tribute to the nurse graduates of the H\u00f4tel-Dieu Saint-Vallier de Chicoutimi, June 2, 1957. For example,\nin the fall of 1968, the Augustinian Sisters set up a welcome centre at the monastery\nto accommodate the visitors coming from afar to accompany the sick to the\nChicoutimi hospital. They also played a role caring for two seniors\u2019 residences\nin the late 1960s: <em>Oasis de Mistassini <\/em>and\n<em>Foyer des<\/em> <em>Ann\u00e9es d\u2019or de K\u00e9nogami.<\/em> The big change in these new\nresponsibilities is that cloistered nuns were asked to do their work outside\nthe monastery and the hospital. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"item wysiwyg component-heading\" ><div class=\"container\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pursuing Work Outside of the Hospital<\/h3>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n<div class=\"item wysiwyg component-paragraph\" ><div class=\"container\">\n<p>This approach was also used in the decades to\nfollow, whether through some nuns working in a volunteer centre, an association\nfor single-parent families or in various pastoral works such as CO-FA-VIE\n(Couple, Family, LIFE).
