Join Dr. Kimberly Sogge C.Psych. Canadian psychologist and mindfulness teacher (anglophone), together with MBSR teacher Carole Trepanier M.Sc., M.A. (francophone) on a five day teacher-led silent mindful self compassion retreat, Awakening the Heart of Compassion. This retreat will be primarily conducted in English with the option of posing questions or meeting with a teacher in French. The retreat meets the requirements of silent teacher guided retreat practice for MSC, MBSR and MBCT teachers. Continuing Professional Education credits may be available.
The setting for the Awakening the Heart of Compassion Retreat is the Monastere des Augustines, an award winning, newly renovated historic convent, the oldest hospital in North America outside of Mexico, nestled within the walls of old Quebec City on the shores of the St. Lawrence River.
Just as we pause for a brief time within each breath, just as there is a tiny moment of rest in each beat of the heart, may we take some time from the rhythm of daily life for a pause of rest and renewal. The Awakening a Heart of Compassion retreat will support a soaking and deepening in the Mindful Self Compassion core practices including but not limited to: affectionate breathing, compassionate body scan, compassionate movement, lovingkindness for self and other, compassion for self and other, compassion with difficult emotions, compassion with shame, compassion and equanimity with caregiver stress, living from the vows of the heart, self-appreciation, gratitude, and cultivating joy.
Each day of the retreat will include three vegetarian meals, one hour of optional mindful movement as embodied mindful self compassion practice, a daily dharma talk drawn from buddhist teachings on emptiness and compassion, and within the context of noble silence safe opportunities for mindful inquiry with teacher(s). Together with the healing environment of the beautiful Monastere des Augustines in the heart of old Quebec City, we intend to support the awakening of your heart of compassion.
